Systems Installation / Support Engineer Trainee

Role:
Our client is seeking an IT professional to work alongside their team to undertake post sales installation and support of client IT systems. The role will provide on the job training along with external training so ideally our client is looking for someone who would like to make IT their career.

  • Assisting in the building, installing, and commissioning IT systems for clients
  • Providing 1st and 2nd line support for newly installed or upgraded systems
  • Providing second line support for existing systems
  • Providing technical support to clients at various locations throughout the UK
  • Maintaining the company call logging information
  • Ensuring calls logged are allocated to the appropriate technician and all relevant information is passed to them
  • Ensuring client equipment records are maintained and regularly updated
  • Liaising with suppliers and providers of 3rd party services to ensure goods and services are available at the time required to meet customer expectations and Service Level Agreements
  • Produce concise and accurate reports on activities carried out
  • To work within all relevant policies, procedures and systems established by the company
  • Carry out other reasonable duties which are commensurate with the nature and level of the post
  • If required, participation in an “on-call” scheme may be necessary

About You:
Excellent written and spoken communication skills are a must, along with a professional telephone manner as you will be dealing with clients on a regular basis.  Having some commercial awareness and experience of problem-solving within a customer focused environment would be an advantage.

Candidates Must Have:

  • Experience of installation and configuration of: Windows 10, MS Office product desktops and/or laptops
  • Ability to use: MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook
  • Have a systematic and disciplined approach to problem solving and adherence to procedures
  • Able to absorb new techniques and apply them where appropriate to the job
  • Methodical and attentive to detail when recording task work or preparing documentation
  • Mechanical dexterity
