Customs Compliance Manager

Role:
Our client is an extremely well established and highly renowned Cleckheaton based business who are looking to recruit an experienced Customs Compliance Manager.

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of customs matters ensuring all guidelines are followed under AEO status with HMRC. You will work with the customs team to complete customs entries daily. The successful candidate will have excellent industry experience within the air and sea transport industry and HMRC systems and regulations. The candidate will ensure they have excellent communication skills, dealing with their customers and suppliers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Managing customs process and performing customs entries
  • Completing customs entries daily
  • Working within the customs team to ensure all entries are completed when required
  • HMRC knowledge of all import and export regulations and systems knowledge to achieve clients’ goals
  • Excellent user of CNS, MCP systems
  • Completing customs entries for all sea, air and road shipments from EU and Non-EU countries
  • Using Sequoia and Boxtop forwarding systems
  • Looking after customers’ requirements and expectations and managing queries when required
  • Working in the team to ensure all entries are completed on time and correctly
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to line managers with regards to customs entries and status
  • Undertake all AEO HMRC managing, customs checking and full weekly reporting
  • Understand what is required and look to monitor and improve the current process under AEO
  • Work with the sales team to ensure a smooth process and transition for new customs clients when required
  • Maintain supplier relationships but also look for new suppliers to add and provide to the croft cargo network
  • Providing holiday cover to customs team when required to ensure smooth coverage of the team
  • Grow the customs team by dealing with new potential clients and securing new business wins from the sales team when required
  • Train new customs apprentices and train to an excellent level

About You:
The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of sea freight and air freight import and exports. Strong knowledge of international Incoterms and HMRC knowledge.

Candidates Must Have:

  • It is ESSENTIAL to have freight forwarding industry experience
  • It is ESSENTIAL to have experience of managing customs process and performing customs entries
  • HMRC knowledge of all import and export regulations is also ESSENTIAL
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent user of CNS, MCP systems
  • Sales experience is also ESSENTIAL
