It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The Welcome Centre drop off

If you’ve been following our blog and our Instagram, you’ll know that we decided to make some changes to how we celebrate Christmas this year.

This year, we decided to make a donation to our local food bank, The Welcome Centre in Huddersfield. The Welcome Centre, alongside other food banks in the UK, provide crucial support to families in need.

Food banks help families in crisis all year round, but with the drops to icier temperatures and, often, a time for friends and families to exchange gifts, eat sumptuous meals and generally share in the merriment of the festive season, it is perhaps more poignant at this time of year for those that are in need to require an extra supporting hand.

With that in mind, we wanted to see what we could do…

… and we were blown away by the support of our wonderful clients, temporary workers, friends and family, many of whom jumped in to help.On Monday 10th December, we went to The Welcome Centre and made a food donation, basing our purchases on their priority list of shortages (which you can find on their website). We were met by two of the Centre’s workers, one voluntary and one permanent member of staff, who helped us to unload our donation bags.

Last year, The Welcome Centre gave out 12,355 crisis packs,of which 7,749 were food packs. These shocking figures really bring it home to us how important the work of The Welcome Centre, and other such food banks, is,and it was a humbling experience to be able to give something back to a Centre that gives out so much necessary support and kindness to the local community.

Whatever you do this festive season, we wish you all the very best.
