Do You Speaka da Lingo? Yes of Course!

BASF Performance Products plc is a world class, speciality chemical manufacturing company with production plants in Lincolnshire, Scotland and nearby Bradford here in West Yorkshire.

At THE Agency we’ve been lucky enough to work with both the Bradford and German HR teams on many occasions over the past 15 years when they have needed assistance with commercial temporary, permanent and contract vacancies.

So when BASF chose to base its European Customer Services Centre at their Bradford site; not only was it a feather in the cap for the City of Bradford, but it turned out to be one for THE Agency as well when they approached us to help them fill a number of key bi-lingual Sales Co-ordinator posts at the Centre.

Over a period of weeks we worked very closely with BASF to not only fully understand the type of people they were looking for, but also to source suitably qualified and experienced Candidates. We were inundated with applications from across the globe and in the end we managed to forward a select handful of carefully chosen Candidates, all of whom met the needs of the BASF’s specification. Out of these, three bilingual candidates (Spanish, German and French), were chosen for testing and interview and were subsequently offered places by the company.

However, our job wasn’t over yet!

Meet our Bilingual Placements (L to R): Claire Launey, Maria Estrada, Anna Rogge.

Meet our Bilingual Placements: in the centre of Kim and Louise from THE Agency (L to R): Claire Launey, Maria Estrada, Anna Rogge.

BASF, as part of their recruitment procedures, subject each new-starter to a rigorous screening process before any formal offer is made. These procedures include medicals as well as the normal references and right to work checks and our three candidates were no exception! As part of our service to each of the Candidates and the Client, we made sure we kept in touch with everyone on a regular basis and liaised with third parties where needed in order to keep the process flowing freely.

The end result was a very happy Client as they gained three successful new team members and three happy Candidates as each person was successfully placed in their ideal job and have very quickly settled in and formed a very strong friendship!

Here’s what Anna and Claire had to say about their experiences of THE Agency as Candidates:

“THE Agency delivers very good communication to its candidates and offers an excellent and very personal service and support! They are also very friendly too! Kim, Louise and Catherine made me feel very positive and were incredibly helpful at every stage of the process”.
Anna Rogge – German Bi-lingual European Sales Co-ordinator

During the lengthy and very stringent selection process, Kim, Catherine and Louise’s expertise, support and willingness to help was invaluable. Their dynamism is contagious. I am so grateful for their advice and help before and after the position was offered to me. THE Agency is not a recruitment agency like others – they care about candidates and it is what makes all the difference!
Claire Launay – French Bi-lingual European Sales Co-ordinator

I could not praise THE Agency enough! After registering with several recruitment agencies THE Agency found me my dream job. The staff are the loveliest people you could meet and I would highly recommend their service to anyone!
Maria Estrada – Spanish Bi-lingual European Sales Co-ordinator
