Temporary Credit Control / Accounts Assistant 

An excellent opportunity has arisen with our client for a Temporary Credit Control / Accounts Assistant to join their Accounts Team based in Birstall. It is a demanding role in a busy environment that needs a reliable, confident and experienced finance assistant.

The Credit Controller will handle the collection of finances and the resolution of account queries. It is also the responsibility of a Credit Controller to manage debt recovery, this could involve stopping the supply of goods and services, negotiating recovery of funds. It is vital that a Credit Controller builds and maintains close links with all customers, to ensure smooth running of accounts and encourage timely recovery of payments.

Description and main tasks:

  • Checking customer’s credit ratings with banks
  • Timely and effective collection of all debts and customers payments
  • Posting and allocating daily receipts to accounting systems
  • Providing accounts information to internal departments
  • Resolving queries both internally and externally around outstanding invoices
  • Maintaining contact with clients to ensure invoices are clear for payment
  • Negotiating re-payment plans
  • Daily CASH and BACS procedures
  • Answering accounts calls
  • Dealing with accounts queries / invoice queries
  • Banking
  • Other clerical duties as required
  • Adhoc tasks as required

Person Specification:

  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
  • Ability to reconcile complex accounts and have excellent attention to detail
  • Competence in Microsoft Office products, Excel and accounting software programmes
  • Prior experience with systems including invoice discounting
  • Calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations

Hours of work are Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week, with overtime as and when required.
