Technical Sales Representative – South Wales and Thames Valley areas

Our prestigious Client is a world leading manufacturer, supplying a range of chemicals for industrial & municipal wastewater treatment. They have developed a wide range of products which are used in processes where water is present: drinking water production, wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, oil and gas extraction, mining, agriculture, and the manufacture of paper, textiles and cosmetic preparations.

Their client base is predominantly major water businesses who they have nurtured and developed over many years providing industry leading technical service and support to ensure they continue to offer their customers the highest quality products on the market.  They believe that their differentiator is their technical service offering of which this role is fundamental, to ensure their customers get the best from their products time and time again.

With this in mind, they are looking to recruit a new Technical Sales Representative to cover the South Wales and Thames Valley regions, to not only offer day to day support to their clients,  but also build rapport, new business and an enhanced level of service and a commitment to support them through their everyday needs and bring value to their businesses at every opportunity.

Our Client is looking for a professional candidate who can be an ‘Ambassador’ for their business, who can bring a fresh eye, passion, an enquiring mindset and self-motivation to a role that can be, from time to time quite isolated being on the road covering such a geographic area. At the same time though, is rewarding for someone who wants to make a difference and put their transferable skills (either within a sales background or scientific /technical background) in to a new role where the client base is already in existence, but where regular support and guidance is needed to ensure that their businesses continue to offer a high level of service to their customers in return.

The role can be quite reactive on a day to day basis, but this role requires a candidate who is also very proactive in servicing their clients and can work to a busy diary ensuring that all key clients are visited on a regular basis and are given technical support both face to face and remotely if required.

Due to the nature of this role our client seeks a candidate with either a HNC / HND in a scientific subject, ideally chemistry, but this is not essential, as full training will be given to the right person. You will also have first class report writing skills, good Microsoft Excel and Word, good selling skills and a full clean driving licence.

From a personal perspective you will have a very strong customer focus, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a strong team player. You will also be analytical thinking, someone who can manage a busy workload whilst working remotely, be flexible working on your own initiative and have a strong “can-do” work ethic.

You will also have sufficient ability to work in a chemical dosing environment, be able to climb stairs, stand for prolonged periods of time and able to carry out moderate to heavy lifting. And finally, you will be able to drive for long periods due to the geographic nature of this role.

Our Client anticipates that this role will be ‘on the road’ c4 days per week and 1 day home based to complete report writing and administration, although this could change due to the demands of your clients, overnight stays will be a big part of this role too, so candidates must have the flexibility to stay in hotels whilst in certain parts of the region if required.

Our client offers an extremely attractive salary, benefits, company car and discretionary bonus (paid upon individual performance). Also, the chance to work for a market leader that offers wonderful support and potential career opportunities to all its employees.

The closing date for applications is Monday 24th June 2019.

Please note that first line telephone interviews for this role will take place on Wednesday 26th June, followed by face to face interviews – date and location to be confirmed at a later date, although will be local to South Wales or the Thames Valley area.

Shortlisted candidates will then be expected to travel to Leeds for a full and final interview with the client which will involve either a presentation exercise or similar.  Please note that travelling expenses to Leeds will be covered by the Client.
