Temporary Information Governance Administration Assistant

This role is to support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in ensuring that information within the business is protected, in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, the needs of the business and to ensure that the policies and risk /compliance activities across the organisation reflect and enhance this. To be a point of contact for Subject Access/EIR/Open Data queries and translate relevant policy into effective deliverable actions for staff members dealing with requests for information or data privacy issues. This role is also responsible for supporting the business with its regulatory compliance with the DPA 1998, Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) 2004 and Open Data Requests.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate the implementation and monitoring of data requests to ensure that the company is compliant and fulfils its obligations; liaise with the DPO to deliver appropriate advice in response to queries relating to data requests and assist the DPO working with departments to create and implement procedures and systems for the protection of personal data. Also providing support and guidance on (DPIA’s) under the guidance of the DPO. You will assist with the monitoring of staff to complete the mandatory information security training and produce regular management reports on compliance. Supporting the DPO in specific projects related to the information governance projects and management in response to information security incidents.

You will ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience; have a broad understanding of the requirements of the DPA 1998 and the GDPR. You will also have a detailed understanding of the DPA in relation to subject access requests including the definition of personal data and allowed exceptions. You will also have an understanding of the EIR 2004 and how they apply to the business sector and have a broad knowledge of Information Security best practices.

You will have practical experience of developing policies and procedures and have practical experience of working in data protection and leading change in this area, including writing and embedding policy and compliance standards. You will also have an understanding of how the Information Commissioner Office (ICO) interacts with Data Controllers and EIR practitioners.

Our client requires a candidate who has excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and is an effective and creative problem solver with the ability to contribute positive ideas and suggestions to overcome challenges and improve business practices,

You will be familiar with reporting and metrics to various levels of managements and have the ability to interface smoothly with all levels of the business interpret requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.

In addition to the above you will have very strong MS office skills, have excellent analytical skills and have the ability to prioritise workloads and to know when to seek guidance.

It would be desirable if you have the ISEB qualification in Data Privacy or Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection. Additionally, a Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) or equivalent would also be advantageous. Our client also requires a candidate who has experience of dealing with subject access and EIR requests and has practical experience of carrying out compliance activities e.g. reviews/audits.

A broad understanding of current information technologies, vulnerabilities, exploits, exposures and malicious behaviours and experience with common IS management frameworks, such as ISO 27001., PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, and the ITIL would also be of great advantage.

This role is for c 3 months and the successful candidate will be required to work as a Temporary Worker under a Contract for Services with THE Agency (Recruitment) Limited during this time.
