Assistant Purchasing/Product Manager 

Our client is looking for an Assistant Purchasing/Product Manager to support and assist the Catalogue Purchasing Manager and the product marketing team in the effective, development, negotiation and purchasing of product ranges to be marketed by our client through their different sales platforms.

Main responsibilities and tasks will be as follows: –

  • Close working relationships with key suppliers to ensure maximum value is achieved and promotional opportunities such as price support during limited periods are utilised
  • Assisting in the creation of the catalogue pages on the catalogue management system
  • Provide administrative support to the product marketing team in all aspects of catalogue production, including creation of new products, and amendments to the catalogue management system
  • Providing statistical reports for the product marketing team as directed by the Catalogue Purchasing Manager
  • Provide the product marketing team with additional support during peak periods with tasks such as proofing pages and pricing
  • Providing key competitor analysis reports
  • Analyse of new product sales and specific sales campaigns and producing and analysing adhoc reports
  • Involvement in the rationalisation and effective development of the supplier base
  • Ensuring all procedures and documentation are in place to meet the latest product legislation
  • Negotiating, under supervision, with suppliers on the issues of price, contributions, quality, service and other support issues
  • Dealing with and resolving day-day queries/problems both internal and external relating to the vendor base and supply chain
  • Involvement in the selection of a balanced product mix and subsequent pagination, page design, briefing and proofing for publications
  • Provision of relevant product information to the design studio and/or the marketing communications teams
  • Continual review of the performance of the existing range of products developing recommendations for new products and the discontinuation of non-performers
  • Effective marketing of the product range the effectiveness of the representation of the products in publications
  • Selection of new products/product ranges within the scope of a defined range strategy
  • Management of discontinued products or product ranges taking into consideration any outstanding stock commitments or customer service requirements
  • Direct involvement in the presentation of potential new opportunities to senior management
