Throughout the pandemic, people had the time to dance with opportunities to learn something new or start a new hobby. For some, these blossomed into new business or a new direction in career, which consequently lead to the phenomenon we now call The Great Resignation. Where people left their current roles to pursue something that benefitted them more, but some people didn’t get that chance and are now looking for a new challenge. Don’t know where to begin making that move? There are so many resources online nowadays to help you upskill at home so we have outlined some of the helpful ones we know about below:

1. Udemy

Catering to a broad audience with courses ranging from business to design to marketing to IT. It is an educational platform where you can purchase courses from a rang of over 150k to choose from, from over 57,000 instructors. There is no scarcity in topics and materials, and there are more than 65 languages to choose your courses from.

2. Unacademy

Unacademy is designed for students who are preparing for their SSC, Board, ICSE, UPSC, Airforce, NDA, JEE and NEET, State Public Service Commissions, Management and Foreign studies, among others. They can find courses, test preparation materials and assistance from the app with verified and well-known instructors who are well-equipped to guide the students. The app also provides personality development options.

3. Skillshare

If you’re wanting to move into a creative space but need to learn more, then Skillshare could be the one for you. Skillshare offers a variety of learning resources for a monthly or annual fee, which allows you to learn all that is available on the platform. The platform is focused on creativity and provides courses/lessons/workshops in things like illustration, photography and even how to build good habits. It is an app that is available on both iOS and Android and you can begin your journey with their 7-day free trial and monthly subscription.

4. TED

Although it may not result in qualifications, TED is an app that is an abundant learning space. You will have likely heard of it before as it has hosted some of the most inspiring talks to date. People from around the world and all walks of life take to the stage to deliver their talk. TED is an amazing app for adults and those who want to learn about the small and big things about everyday life. If you want to expand your horizons and learn about life from different perspectives, TED will suit your needs perfectly. The app has accumulated a rich library of videos, and those who seek knowledge from it will not find themselves lost for material. It is an available on iOS and Android and is completely free to download and use for everyone.

5. LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is an online educational platform that helps you discover and develop business, technology-related, and creative skills through expert-led course videos. With more than 5,000 courses and personalized recommendations, you can discover, complete, and track courses related to your field and interests. You can also choose to add these courses and related skills to your LinkedIn profile once you’ve completed them.

6. Codecademy

If your aspiration is to learn how to code, you’re not alone. Coding is becoming one of the biggest industries that people want to get into in the world. Codecademy is a dedicated portal to learn coding, interactively. Codecademy has multiple types of learning material. For example, you can choose to learn a specific topic or complete courses. You can sort the available learning by language or subject.

7. Sololearn

Another coding resource, Sololearn is an app available on IOS and Android or you can just access it through your browser. It offers fewer courses than other options but does offer some of the best complete tutorials with quizzes to help you upskill yourself easily.

After a short spell of unemployment I discovered THE Agency from a Google search for local employment agencies. I was pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere when I attended a face to face interview the following day after contacting THE Agency. I have worked as a temporary worker for THE Agency for six years and I have to say the experience has been wonderful. They offer a great service to all their candidates – I have worked along side many of them during the course of my contract with THE Agency. Having not had the highest regard for agencies in the past it makes a change to find one that actually goes above and beyond when it comes to supporting you. I would highly reccommend this agency. I found myself in a position where, despite having an excellent CV, I needed to find an opportunity imeediately.
